This section will be an overview of the radio and navigation systems available for our part of the aviation world. That is: general aviation, LSA and ultralights (aka MLA, ULM) and of course: our own homebuilt aircraft (the experimental class).
Aircraft telephony is accomplished using predefined procedures developed by ICAO, this enhances safety and prevents unnecessary delays. Especially when aircraft might be in trouble for whatever reason. We take a look at those procedures and services.
Antennas are the connecting factor between the aircraft and the electromagnetical waves to the groundstation or other aircraft. A good antenna system (connectors, cables) is therefore very important.

Talking effectively with Air Traffic Control enhances the flow of aircraft and safety. Being able to handle radio problems and interference is important too as is knowing the current emergency procedures and radar services available. |

8.33 kHz Channel Spacing |

The new communications channel spacing has been coming a long time now. As of 2018 it is even mandatory for aircraft in the EU to be equipped with radios able to select these new channels. |

Emergency Services |

It is hopefully never required but should the unforeseen happen all kinds of services are available to any aircraft in distress to rescue its occupants. |

Aircraft radios are connected with special coaxial cables to the various antenna found on the aircraft, thus enabling good and clear communications and navigation signal indication to the crew. |
